Ask me anything   je ne sais quoi

Productive day today :]

feels goooooood. its been awhile since i had a fulfilling day haha other than clinicals

oh, speaking of clinicals

ER rotation was freakin’ AWESOME!!

i mean yeah, i was such a freakin amateur in there, but i learned so much!!

i watched my nurse insert 2 IVs before he learned i could do it too and he felt bad haha so the nurses let me do the next 2 IV insertions (my first real ones!!)

an i got both veins on the first try!! but actually finishing the whole thing was harder for me than actually getting it into the vein o_O but now i have that experience im sure i’ll do even better next time :]

a few interesting cases came in… haha but of course i shouldnt talk about it

i followed a couple of nurses and i really liked them all. They taught me a lot, quizzed me, and just told me straight up what i needed to know, what not to do, and corrected what i was doing wrong (even though im just doing what they taught us in school). well, obviously school is different from reality but its just so weird that there are a lot of things that contradict each other

well anywayyyysss, i finally got to put in a catheter too!! but it has been so long, i forgot that i had a clean hand and a sterile hand bahhhhh and i didnt get it in the urethra on the first try… eheh… yeah i got it in her other hole. good thing i got a sweet old lady

and i did an EKG which was alot simpler than i thought it would be (they have a picture on the machine that shows you where to put the leads!) but those wires get so tangled! but the lady and her daughter were so sweet :]

so i thought i wouldnt really like having geriatric patients, but theyre actually my favorite patients so far and they really like helping nursing students :]

so i really like school so far and i hope i get to be in ER again soon!!

be productive more often rae!!

Can I Just Say…

that im reeeeeaaaaallyyyyy liking my new clinical site :]   im placed in DOU this week and next week and i love the nurses in there!! <3  i was there earlier to pick out a patient and they were all helping me out in there trying to decide which pt i can learn best from <33333

but i’ll be in ER the week after then med surg after that and its not the same nurses. Theresa went there to pick out her patient and there was a LOT less interaction with the charge nurse and everything, which is the reality for now. But i just like the vibe in DOU :]

this is such an improvement after manning!! i think i hate her just as much or maybe even more than the worst manager i ever had working in retail and i really hated her.

yay placentia linda!
